GATWICK AIRPORT, HORLEY, GATWICK RH6 0NP
London Gatwick airport is situated at Junction 9 of the M23, 8.6 miles from Junction 7 of the M25 motorway. Gatwick Airport offers so many parking options that a lot of travellers choose to drive to the airport rather than rely on public transport to make their flights. For your convenience, some of the biggest off airport parking operators, including APH and Purple Parking, also operate car parks at Gatwick. There are also a multitude of Meet and Greet parking providers, which means there are more than 40 car parks to choose from.
Gatwick Meet and Greet Parking
If you’re away for longer than 4 days you should consider using a Meet and Greet parking provider and then compare the prices with other airport and off parking options. It’s worth checking online reviews when considering a Meet and Greet or Chauffeur Parking provider, as there have been problems with rogue operators in the past.
To avoid being taken of a ride, use one of the main booking agencies, for example, Purple Parking, APH and Holiday Extras. These booking agencies perform due diligence checks to make sure cars are being parked correctly. One other tip is to avoid operators requesting cash when you drop your car off.
Purple Parking Meet and Greet is one of the most highly recommended operators. It has a large off-site car park on the airport perimeter; the Meet and Greet service compliments Purple Parking’s standard Long Stay Parking service.
Another recommended operator is Meteor, which manages a number of Meet and Greet operations across the UK.
I Love Meet and Greet is a family run business with over 30 years experience parking cars at Gatwick Airport.
APH, like Purple Parking, has a large off airport car park and operates a Meet and Greet service.
Gatwick Airport runs its own Meet and Greet service called Gatwick Valet, although you don’t get a free car wash included!
Gatwick Short Stay Parking
If you’re going away on a business trip or a leisure break for a couple of days or a long weekend, it’s worth considering the short stay car parks opposite the North and South terminals at Gatwick Airport. Short stay parking is more expensive than the other choices, but you can’t beat it for convenience. There’s no worry about handing your key overs to the car park and no need to take a transfer, as the short stay car parks are adjacent to the terminal buildings, at most a 5 minute walk away.
Gatwick Long Stay Parking
Long stay parking at the airport is referred to as Official parking. Gatwick Airport’s long stay car park is 5 minutes from the terminal by courtesy coach. The coaches run every 10 to 15 minutes, so at the most you should be at the terminal 20 minutes after parking your car. During peak periods the site can get very busy so finding a space can take a little longer.
Gatwick Airport’s budget long stay car park is called Summer Special. The car park is further away from the terminal than the long stay car parks. The transfer time is 5 minutes and transfer buses run every 10 – 20 minutes.
Gatwick Off Airport Parking
There are a number of off airport car parks at Gatwick but the best known are APH, with over 4000 spaces, and Purple Parking, which was formerly known as BCP or Airparks.
Both car parks run slick operations with a focus on good customer service. Being further away than the airport car parks they need to offer additional benefits, such as quality service and affordable prices. Note, however, that they can be more expensive than airport parking during peak periods. Off property airport long stay car parks are run in a similar manner to low-cost airlines; when space is at a premium, prices are increased, so peak periods and school holidays will be more expensive than quieter periods.
The APH car park is located at Snow Hill, about 3.5 miles from Junction 10 of the M23 along the A264. Purple Parking is located on the Charlwood Road near Lowfield Heath.
Gatwick Parking Charges
Prices for parking at Gatwick Airport are very competitive. During off peak periods it’s possible to get some great deals if you book well in advance. If you know you won’t need to change your travel plans look out for Supersaver or Early Bird deals. Prices during peak periods and school holidays will be more expensive than during off peak periods as car parks yield their prices for maximum return.
Gatwick Hotels with Parking
Hotels and parking packages are very popular at Gatwick as it’s an international airport. There is a wide choice of hotels and many include parking services at very competitive prices.
If you are looking for a hotel closest to the airport than you need the Hilton Hotel at the South terminal and the Sofitel Hotel at the North terminal. Both hotels are a short walk to the terminal buildings.
At off peak periods it is possible to get a hotel with parking package for little more than parking alone. The parking, however, will be at the hotel and may not be as secure as a dedicated car park.
Popular hotels offering parking packages include the Russ Hill, Ramada, Britannia and the Worth hotel. Don’t forget to compare prices with some of the main booking agencies, including APH, Holiday Extras and Expedia.
